While a community developed at Kiosk, Fossmill continued to be home to many of the workers families until the mid 1940's.
In 1973 after 37 years of successful operation the Kiosk mill was destroyed in a tragic fire. The following year the Master Plan for Algonquin Park ruled out any further mill construction within it's boundrys, thus ending and era in Ontario's logging history.
